Steven Dobberfuhl, M.D.
PHYSICIAN
Dr. Dobberfuhl was born in Idaho and moved around with his parents and two brothers under the direction of the US Air Force until finally arriving in south Austin. He spent his kindergarten through college years in Austin.
During his kindergarten physical, a rare heart disorder was discovered and he subsequently met annually with a heart doctor. These visits exposed him to medicine and by third grade, he knew he wanted to be a doctor. With time, he realized he wanted to take care of the whole person and not be a specialist. He received his Medical Doctorate from UT-Houston and completed his internal medicine training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
In 2000, he chose to return to his south Austin roots and began working at Adult Care of Austin. He focuses on health improvement and maintenance as well as acute and chronic care. He is board certified in internal medicine and enjoys the challenge of staying up-to-date with new health maintenance recommendations, functional medicine and disease management. He works with a thoughtfully created professional team to provide outstanding and comprehensive service.
Other than medicine, Dr. Dobberfuhl enjoys spending time with his family outside, mountain biking, running, swimming, kayaking, and traveling. Dr. Dobberfuhl, his wife Becca, and sons Henley and Wells enjoy taking advantage of all the incredible natural, cultural, quirky and otherwise fun offerings of Austin.
MIchael petersen, mpas, pa-c
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
Michael was born and raised in Houston, Texas. After growing up playing sports, he accomplished his childhood dream and was fortunate to play baseball professionally for the Colorado Rockies from 1996-1998. After his baseball career was over, he attended UT Austin, graduating in 2001. He began work in pharmaceutical sales for a couple of years before deciding to pursue his true calling of serving people through medicine.
He graduated from UT Southwestern’s physician assistant program in 2008 and decided to practice internal medicine here at Adult Care of Austin. During his time as a physician assistant, he left ACA for a couple of years and worked in orthopedics, specializing in orthopedic trauma and spine surgery. Missing the long-term patient relationships created in a primary care practice, Michael returned to ACA where he thoroughly enjoys serving the patients of this practice.
In his free time, Michael enjoys golfing, working out, and watching sports. He is a fan of the Cowboys, the New York Mets, and the Mavericks. Additionally, he always looks forward to his yearly medical mission trips that have taken him all over the world and allow him to provide healthcare for many that do not have regular access.
